September was a 'no buying makeup' month for me, and now that it's October I thought I would share my opinions and thoughts about the month with ye.
Before my no buy month I was constantly picking up new bits and pieces of makeup to test and try out. But I've come to realize that those little bits really add up in the grand scheme of things. I used always plan my trips to Boots and other pharmacies and obsess over the aisles of makeup, I wanted to try everything.
I actually thought that the month was going to be harder than it was. I didn't allow myself to even look at makeup to avoid any temptation, and I started to realize that I didn't miss the bright lights of Boots shining on to the cosmetic stands. I didn't miss the rummaging through the makeup to try and find an un-opened product.
I have now come to realization that now that I'm back at school I only wear makeup once a week, on a Saturday night. Sometimes I don't even wear it at all. Spending all this money on products that I want to test out and try, but that I would only wear 3 or 4 times a month. I would rather spend it on something I use everyday like skincare or body products.
Don't get me wrong I still adore makeup and all things to do with beauty. But instead of experimenting with new things I have decided to use the products I already have and not collect makeup that I am never going to use.
I have come to conclusion that although I love makeup I'm going to cut down on the amount of makeup I purchase. Instead of picking up bits and pieces here and there I am going to only buy things that I need and don't have five other similar products.
I highly recommend having a 'no buy' month to anyone. I found it so helpful to put everything into perspective and realised that I don't need that much makeup! I thought the month was a real eye opener and I'm definitely going to do a similar concept again.
Have you ever tried a 'no buy' month?

Love the idea of a no buy month! I have been sort of doing this without an official name since I started college to save money & I've found the same sort of feelings as you have!
