Acne

Today I'm going to talk about something that is so normal and common yet people don't tend to talk it about it. That is the whole subject of acne, especially acne when you're no longer a teen.
I must put out a quick little disclaimer before we start. Some people could think this is nothing and have acne much worse than this and some people could think this is horrendous and their skin is much clearer than this. But this is my skin and I'm talking about my own personal experience so obviously I can only talk about the way my skin is.  My skin has also cleared up a lot while I was planing, writing and posting this blogpost which is quite ironic, but trust me when I say the past month it has been worse.

This is my face with no makeup, no editing, no filters, no nothing. This is how my skin looks in real life, how you'd see it if you were standing right in front of me. Over the years I have never had acne but I always had the teenage hormonal spots here and there but it has only been recently that my skin has gotten this bad. I thought I'd have grown out of the teenage skin stage at this stage, but I guess not. Acne doesn't just affect teenagers, adult acne is a thing and affects more people than you think. Especially when it comes to female hormones, they change your skin and affect it in different ways every month.
It's like all of a sudden my skin has just decided to freak out on me and nothing will solve it. There are products I love to use to calm spots down but it definitely doesn't get rid of them completely, like they used to in the past. I'm lucky that I don't have very bad cystic acne that I need to go on Roaccutane for, but I have tried some prescription lotions and potions and antibiotics but I haven't found anything yet that works to fight acne and also works with my body.
At the moment I'm trying out different skincare products to see if they help in anyway. I will be sure to do a skincare routine blogpost as a follow up to this post to let ye know what helped my skin.
I'm the type of person who feels just as confident with no makeup and with a full face of makeup and I know I am so lucky that I can feel like that. But there have definitely been times recently when I felt the need to put some concealer over my spots when I was going to work or college which I think says a lot.
People don't see your acne first (even though thats hard to believe). They see your smile or your eyes or how nice your hair looks. They don't see your acne, they see you, the amazing human you are and the incredible personality you have. It takes time to rebuild your confidence especially when your skin isn't in the best shape but I promise you will get there. Don't think you are on your own when it comes to acne, because you certainly aren't. So many people struggle with it and almost everyone deals with it during their lifetime.
Acne is such a common thing and it is so important to look after your skin, because you only have one face in your lifetime. So have a consistent skincare routine, remove your makeup and if you need a little extra help head to your pharmacist or doctor and they will be able to help you out. Sometimes you might need something better than a good face wash, and that's perfectly okay too.

Just remember, you're not in this alone,

  2. Before you choose the best acne products you will need to determine your skin type. If you have oily skin then you will need careful deliberation before you buy a product. Acne products
