Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

Today I'm going to chat about something not a lot of people talk about, I don't think people even think about it, and it's the purpose of beauty products. If you think about it the beauty industry is pointless. Why do we lather ourselves in fruity smelling lotions or paint our faces to create illusions of higher cheekbones and fuller lashes? The meaning behind beauty products is in the eye of the beholder.

There's a good and a bad side to the beauty industry. It materialises women and makes them feel like they have to look a certain way. It creates a stereotype of the 'perfect' female, and man too. Girls feel the pressure to be hairless and have a tanned complexion paired with bushy brows and full lashes. Unfortunately every story has two sides, and I guess that's one of the bad parts about the beauty industry.
I think it all comes down to you're feeling good, that in turn boosts your mental health, you're more likely to love yourself. When you feel good in your own skin you are automatically more confident, it's like everything falls into place. It may be all materialistic and a money making scam but we all know how good you can feel after using your favourite beauty products.
Looking after yourself boosts mental health and in my opinion self care just helps everything. Obviously this is done by the basics like eating enough good food and getting decent sleep but beauty products can help to look after yourself. Taking a nice hot shower with a fab smelling body wash is self care. Beauty products aren't there for you to look good, they're there to make you feel great.
You can't even begin to describe that feeling when you feel good in your own skin, you almost feel unstoppable. Sometimes it takes a spritz of your favourite perfume to do that or even a fresh coat of nail polish. I guess it's all about making us feel great and love ourselves which I think is an amazing message behind a multimillion industry.

"Self-care is not about self-indulgence, it's about self-preservation."
What do you think is the purpose of beauty products? Let me know in the comments below.
