College Lookbook

If you're like me and starting college you're probably already thinking about what you're going to wear, especially on the first day. I've put together 3 outfits that I will probably wear on the first week of college (so if you see me around UCC you'll already know what I'm wearing!).

They are all more on the formal and dressy side of things just because that's what I like to wear on an everyday basis. Each outfit has a few wardrobe essentials that would be ideal pieces for any college student who doesn't want to wear a tracksuit every day!

Outfit #1
The first essential is a denim or chambray shirt. You can legit wear this with everything, black jeans or leggings, blue jeans if you're feeling brave, a skirt with tights or even with a dressy skirt for a night out.

I paired this shirt with some basic black jeans and some of my go-to jewellery. Having your favourite jewellery pieces that go with everything is very handy because it will automatically look like you put so much effort into your outfit when in fact you just threw on your favourite pieces.
To finish everything off I added a pair of lace-up flats. Even though these aren't the most practical for walking around campus they definitely tie the whole look together.

Shirt - Penneys
Jeans - Topshop
Shoes - Penneys
Watch - Vintage Rotary
Necklaces - H&M, Vintage

Outfit #2
Some more essentials are converse, slogan T-shirts and jeans. As you can probably tell I adore the Topshop Jamie jeans because they are so comfy. Investing in a good pair of jeans is definitely worth your while.
Another great investment are comfortable shoes that are also fashionable and look good with casual outfits. I love my Converse for this and I really want to get a pair of black Nikes that would be good when I have to walk 30 minutes from campus for a biology lab!
The last essential from this outfit is just plain T-shirts. You can never go wrong with basics and T-shirts: plain, patterned, or with slogans are great to throw on when you don't know what to wear.
To dress up this really casual outfit I simply added a trench coat that will keep me warm, dry and it also looks fashionable. This outfit would be perfect for a day when you want to be comfy but want to look put-together and presentable.
T-shirt - Penneys
Trench Coat - Stradivarius
Jeans - Topshop
Shoes - Converse
Rings - Pandora & Penneys

Outfit #3
The last outfit probably looks the dressiest but its probably the most comfortable! Again I tend to suffer for fashion and am wearing not-so-comfortable shoes but I guess it could be worse! Black boots are a wardrobe staple for me. Whether I wear them with jeans and a T-shirt, tights and a dress or even with a shirt on a night out, they instantly make an outfit classier and dressier.
Denim jackets are an absolute layering essential. They're great for casual days over a hoodie and jeans, or over a dress to make it more casual, or it could also be worn to keep you warm on a night out.
T-shirt dresses are also great to throw on over tights for a comfortable college look. I would suggest wearing this with converse and bare legs but we all know how cold it is here in Ireland!
I paired some of my essentials together to create a dressed up yet laid  back outfit. To bring everything together I just threw on some of my go to jewellery.
Dress - Penneys
Denim Jacket - H&M
Boots - Dunnes
Watch - Vintage Gucci
Necklace - Peneys

You can probably tell from this post that I adore basic neutral pieces that can be interchanged with each other to create so many different looks. You can also probably guess that I have a love for uncomfortable shoes that aren't the most practical but they look so nice with the outfits so I better pack some blister plasters!

What are your college wardrobe essentials?
