Dupe Debate

Around two years ago I'm sure everyone heard all of the hype around these mascaras being launched and apparently being dupes for each other. The two in question are the Benefit Roller Lash and Maybeline Lash Sensational. It has taken me quite a long time to jump on the bandwagon with these but I have finally tried them both out and I want to share my opinion on whether I think they are worth the hype and if they are dupes for each other. 

As I said the mascaras I'm talking about are the Benefit Roller Lash and Maybeline Lash Sensational. I have both mascaras in brown because I'm so pale black mascara looks too harsh on me. So I did have to wait a while until Benefit released Roller Lash in a brown shade and until the brown version of Lash Sensational was available in Ireland. 

On first inspection the brushes are quite similar. Both are curved and flared at the edge but the Maybeline does look a bit chunkier and bigger in comparison with the Benefit. The Maybeline formula looks quite darker than the Benefit as it is a 'Black Brown' formula instead of the Benefit one which is just 'Brown'. 

When applying both mascaras it was obvious which one was my favourite. The Benefit mascara is very natural and is very very difficult to build up and create bigger lashes. I'm not a fan of natural mascara and I look for volume and length in a mascara. The Maybeline mascara however is so easy to build up and even with one coat it creates volume and length. I must say that the Benefit mascara got better as the formula dried up but I can't say that it was anywhere near as good as the Maybeline one. 

Whoever said the Maybeline is a dupe for the Benefit mascara is certainly wrong. The Maybeline one is 10 times better than the Benefit in my opinion. Maybe the black formula is different, but I haven't tried them so I cant tell ye what I think. I personally think that these mascaras aren't dupes for each other at all and the more affordable one is so much better. If you want to purchase a new mascara I would highly recommend the Maybeline Lash Sensational. If your preferred mascara look is more natural then you might prefer the Benefit Roller Lash. But if I were you I would definitely give the Maybeline one a try.
