Festive Features

In last week's post I chatted all about a festive outfit but today it's time to start thinking about makeup for the Christmas period. Gold eyes scream Christmas, New Years and festivities in general so I went for a warm toned eye that can be dressed up or down depending on your preferences. I'm going to run through how I created this really easy festive features look.

Nyx Lid Lingerie - Gold Standard*
Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette
Kiko Eye Pencil - Brown
Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Eyeliner - 02 Brown
Lancome Grandiose Extreme Mascara*

I started off with a fairly full coverage yet fresh looking base with some gold highlight and a little bit of contour. I went for my usual brows and I added a nude lip. I thought I'd just show you the eyes today because we'd be here all day otherwise and you've seen how I do my base makeup a thousand times over on my Snapchat.
I wanted to base this look around this gorgeous gold cream shadow. I always use a rose gold shade from the collection and thought the bright gold was kind of scary looking and wouldn't be too wearable but I think paring it with warm reds and oranges makes it blend gorgeously and it's quite festive for the time of year that's in it.
This is from Nyx and I simply applied it to my lids with the doe foot applicator and them blended the edges with a brush from Real Techniques. I of course had my usual sticky notes on first to create a crisp, clean winged eye shape.
Using the gorgeous warm toned palette from Urban Decay I used the shades 'Sauced' and 'Low Blow' and blended these into my crease. These are warm brown and camel toned shadows and I just mixed the two of them together to put into the crease.

I then took 'Cayenne' which is a darker warm tone on the same brush and put this in the outer corner to create some depth.
Taking the darkest matte shade 'Ashes' I put this in the very outer corner. When I did this look earlier in the week I put some of the darker shimmery colours on the outer third of my lid but I wanted to keep this look very bright and gold but that's always an option if you wanted to create a more dramatic look.
After blending everything out with a big fluffy brush I went in with a brown pencil liner from Kiko because it looks a lot less harsh than black. I lined my lash line and created a wing while the sticky notes were still on to have a crisp line and then took an angled brush to bend it out and smudge it out.

I then took a gel liner and put this closer to the lash line than the pencil to create a more defined line.
I took off the sticky notes and did another quick blend. Taking the shades I put in my crease 'Sauced' & 'Low Blow' I blended these under my lower lash line and then applied a good few coats of mascara on both my upper and lower lashes. If I was going out I would have added some individual lashes but for a more natural look I left it there (and I was taking off the makeup straight after taking these pictures and didn't want to waste lashes!!)
So there we have it, my festive features. I will definitely be wearing this look over the Christmas period because it's lovely and glowy and the eyes are very shimmery but the camera unfortunately didn't pick it up.
I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you have a great Christmas and enjoy spending time with your family. I'll chat to you soon,
