The Tied Skirt

Now that Christmas is almost upon us it's time for the Christmas parties and gatherings and of course, what to wear to them. I'm going to show ye an outfit that is quite versatile for any of your Christmas party events.

Although I love dressing up I've never been a fan of sequins or lots of glitter so the stereotypical Christmas party attire can be quite glitzy and too much for me, so I kept this outfit quite understated and neutral but still dressy enough for different occasions.
It's quite a versatile outfit as you could wear tights and boots to a dinner or even for something during the day. Take off the tights and you could wear it out for drinks with friends and you could even swap the heeled boots for a pair of heels and you'd be Christmas party or night out ready. I of course kept the tights on when I shot this look because I didn't want to freeze to death!
I saw this top in Penneys about a month ago and said "Ailbhe you don't need another 'nice top' in your wardrobe" so I didn't get it and regretted not picking it up, so when I was in during the week and saw they still had my size I had to get it, and I'm so glad I did. It's a great top for the 'nice top and jeans' dress code that we are all too familiar with. It's quite versatile and I can definitely see myself getting a lot of wear out of it.

Apart from the basic black tights and my usual heeled, pointed toe black boots, the other part of this outfit is this back tie skirt. If you've been here a while you probably saw this in a New Look haul I did during some sale and was delighted because it was so cheap but it didn't fit perfectly, so until now I've never worn it. That's where The Zipyard come in, they got in contact with me and asked would I like anything altered and I of course jumped at the chance.
Being a solid 5"3 (apparently I look a lot taller in pictures) I'm always in need of taking things up and whenever I order skirts online they always turn out to be too big. So this black skirt was one thing they altered for me and now it fits like an absolute glove. I've begun to realise that the only clothes I get loads of wear out of are the ones that fit me well so if something doesn't fit, return it or get it altered and The Zipyard do a fab job at that. I would highly recommend checking them out if you have any ill fitting pieces in you wardrobe or if you would like to make any alterations.

Boots - Dunnes

So I hope this blogpost gave you a bit of inspiration whether that be outfit wise or to go and get something altered. I hope you have a ball on all these festive nights out, mind yourselves and stay safe.

  1. I love your outfit especially the top. I have to agree that you look much taller in photos than in person.
