Galway Travel Diary

I adore making travel diary blogspots, which means I have to go on some sort of adventure to make one! So this week was the week I went up to Galway for the first travels of 2018 and like all these travel diaries I'm going to share everything from where I stayed to what I did and where I ate in case you're going to Galway soon or else if you were just nosey about my trip this week. 

So first things first, how I got there. I unfortunately don't drive so public transport it was and I was slightly concerned when the usual Bus Eireann bus would take four and a half hours and trains were around the four hour mark too. Luckily my friend told me about the Citylink bus that takes three hours and is only €20 for a student return so if you ever need to get to Galway, that's your best bet.

I was in Galway with my friend Clóda and we stayed in the Nox Hotel as she was kindly invited to stay there and she very generously asked me to stay with her. It's around a twenty minute walk from the city centre but because we were there during storm Eleanor we got a taxi out which was perfect. 

We had dinner there that evening and the food was fab with a great range of food on the menu as well as great veggie and vegan options. It was also really affordable for a hotel dinner which was great and the cocktails were the exact same, so yummy and affordable which are two musts in my book. 

As you can see from a few of photos of the room the decor was absolutely stunning. The downstairs reception area was to die for and so modern, very boutique hotel like. 

Out of interest I looked up the going rates for the rooms and I was honestly in shock the rooms are so affordable and for the quality of service and decor, I would have thought they were double if not triple the price. I couldn't stop raving to my family about the place when I arrived home so it's easily known I'll be going back there the first chance I get! 

So after having a fab breakfast in the hotel we headed into town and of course found the wings wall in Eyre Square which obviously called for a photo or two. After that we headed to 56 Central out of the cold for a catch up over hot chocolate. The interiors of this restaurant/cafe was stunning, Galway is a very Instgrammable place! I would definitely go back and try the food out here because it looked fab.

For lunch we headed to a place called Tribeton which definitely continued the whole Galway being so picturesque theme. The girls said that it was originally a warehouse and then it was transformed into a restaurant and bar. We had a fab lunch surrounded by a gorgeous interior followed by some unreal cocktails. 

These photos just aren't doing this place justice, it was so incredibly stunning and really reasonably priced for somewhere really central and so classy. I'll be dragging everyone here when I go back up to Galway because I honestly haven't seen anything like it before.
