Out With The Old & In With The New

The new year is associated with fresh starts and new things, so why not share a few new bits and pieces with ye today? This outfit has been my recent winter uniform. I always throw on my camel coat over a wooly jumper, jeans and pair it all with some black boots. It's comfy, casual and still practical. I recently went on a road trip to visit family and I shot this outfit on an evening stroll on one of my favourite beaches.

I was in desperate need of some new denim jeans as I wear them so often in college and my other pair have gotten so thin with all of the wear. At the end of December I decided it was time to invest in a new pair. I opted for a dark blue pair with no rips from Topshop. The 'Jamie' jeans from Topshop always fit me perfectly and once you break them in they are the most comfortable things in the world. I've gotten a lot of wear out of them over the Christmas and I can't wait to get back to college to wear them even more.

Soon after I started college I realised how important comfortable shoes are. As winter rolled around I started to wear boots to keep my feet warm and not get soaked in the rain, but heeled boots weren't the most practical! So when I spotted these in Penneys I picked them up straight away. They're a classic 'Chelsea' style with a gold rim at the top of the heel that adds a little more detail which makes them look a lot more expensive than they were. Definitely a practical yet fashionable purchase!
You might notice that my hair is quite a bit shorter! I actually got it cut just before Christmas for a bit of change as I was getting sick of how long it was getting. Even though I still haven't gotten used to styling it when I want to put it up, but I'm loving how it looks either curly and straight. It actually looks great as it gets dirty as well which is great for a lazy gal like me. I know it's not incredibly short but it's the shortest I have ever had it so it's new to me!

The last new thing fashion wise I want to talk about is my gorgeous new bag. My brother kindly got this for me for my birthday. I was always in need of a bag that wasn't huge but still fit my DSLR camera. When I started working in Debenhams I had my eye on these 'Fiorelli' bags as they are very minimalistic which is right up my street. I spotted this one day and fell head over heels in love. It's monochrome, small, yet fits my camera which is just what I need. I'm a very lucky girl to have gotten it for my birthday and it is definitely my most cherished piece in my wardrobe.
I always wanted a camel coat as I think they are so classic and stylish. As I'm so pale they all were a little dark on me and made me look more ghostly than normal. I finally stumbled across this gorgeous oversized coat after work one day. It's very simple with the classic collar and gorgeous brown buttons. It has quite a baggy and square shaped fit which I think looks fab over a pair of skinny jeans. Coats are definitely an essential investment since it's so bloody cold in Ireland! I'm delighted I added this piece to my wardrobe.

I very simply put all these pieces together and threw on a basic cable knit grey jumper and there's your outfit! I think you can really wear anything together when you're working with a neutral colour palette, which is what I usually do to be honest. I topped everything off my everyday watch to accessorise.
