The Ordinary Skincare

Apologies for no blogspot last week, you would have known if you follow my social media that I took some time off because of personal reasons. But I'm back this week with a post I know some of ye were waiting for. I finally placed an order of a few bits to try from The Ordinary and showed them on my Snapchat when they arrived. You can never tell how a skincare product will work on first impressions so I wanted to test them out before I told ye what I thought about them.

The brand overall is very scientific which I really appreciate and love. The whole idea behind it is that they use the key ingredients that are in high end skincare and produce them by themselves. Their design is very simple and minimal and no fancy names or anything, just the name of the molecule that is in the product. I love this because I always look for key ingredients when researching and purchasing skincare so the fact that they're all laid out with that one main ingredient, it's very easy to understand what product you're getting.

On the website there is a regimen guide which is so handy to look at even if you're not using their products so you know when to use what and in which order. They also have in each description of the products when to use it and which step to use it in your skincare routine, almost like what you'd have when you get a prescription which makes sense as they promote themselves as being clinical formulas.

As amazing as all this sounds you're probaby thinking there's a big price tag that comes along with these but there isn't, everything is so incredibly affordable.The products that I picked up range from €5.30 - €8.70 to  and the prices will slightly differ depending on what website you buy them on. I got everything from The Ordinary's website and found the shipping wasn't too expensive and could have even be free with over a certain amount and they arrived quickly enough. Now let's chats about the products I tried out. 

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution 

This is definitely the product that I have seen the biggest difference with, I use it as a spot treatment at night and when I wake up the next day all my spots are visibly reduced, not as red, and have definitely dried up over night. You can also use it as an all over serum to keep your skin clear but I just use it as a spot treatment just in case it might dry out my skin a bit. If you struggle with spots or acne I would definitely suggest giving this a go. Because I use it as a spot treatment I apply it to cleansed, toned and moisturised skin directly onto any spots.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution 

A while a go I ran out of my favourite Vichy acid toner so picked up the Pixi Glow Tonic to try and although I do like it I find it very strong on my skin and wouldn't be using it as often as I used the Vichy. Acid toners are quite expensive so I wanted to pick this one up to have when I run out of the Pixi one. After trying it I definitely think it's more gentle than the Pixi one but a little stronger than the Vichy. Like all these products it doesn't have a scent which is great for sensitive skin and I would definitely recommend trying it if you're in the market for an acid toner.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Now this is the one product that didn't work as well for me as the others. My friend Cliona compared this to the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo so I was dying to pick it up and try it and it didn't work for me and my skin. I actually think I'm slightly allergic to it because whenever I used it my skin was extremely dry and tight feeling so I won't be using it again. I may try it as a spot treatment and see how that works but it didn't work as a spot treating serum. Because it was so cheap I don't mind that it didn't work for me because other skincare products would be so expensive and when your skin doesn't like it then it's a waste but when it's a couple of euro it's not a big loss.

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

You're probably thinking with all this acne talk, why did I get a hydrating serum, well it doesn't matter what skin type you have you still need to keep it hydrated. I decided to pick this up because my beloved Vichy is running low and thought since I'm making the order I might as well pick it up and try it out. This is definitely one to use for dry skin every day or else on other skin types not using it every day as I find that congested my skin. But any dry-skinned people out there this could work for you.
