The Festive Trio

Now that exams are almost over and the last of assignments are handed it, it's finally time for Christmas and the festivities that come with it. It's time for the family nights, the friend reunions, the nights out because 'sher look it's Christmas'. And with all of that comes the 'I have nothing to wear' dilemma. So this is where this blogpost will hopefully help you with three outfit ideas for the different occasions  that you'll probably encounter over the festive season.

The Family Gathering
Now the first occasion we're going to deal with is the family gathering. The struggle with how dressy or casual to go is always the hardest so I put this outfit together that's either a casual dressy or a dressy casual (with no ripped jeans in sight, anyone else's grandparents seem to harp on about how your knees will be cold and you're only wearing half a pair of jeans?!).
A cosy jumper and leather skirt is a great way to mix the dressy and casual together, I kept it really neutral because it's Ailbhe we're talking about. Heeled boots are the easiest things to throw on because they're not as uncomfortable as heels and I genuinely live in this pair for nights out, I thought they dressed the outfit up quite nicely.

The Quarter Life Crisis

Ever since September and starting third year of college there's been a huge focus on your career and future in my course. Seeing people swanning around in graduation robes in college and hearing what they're doing with their life kind of freaks you out a bit, and this is when the quarter life crisis kicks in. As in, what the hell are we all doing with our lives? It's time to have a chat about the freaking out that 90% of people I've talked to are currently having about their future, career and life in general.

The Red Brunette X Plant Powered Human

Today's post has actually been a while in the pipeline so I'm delighted that I am finally sharing it with ye, it's a collab with Darragh. If you don't know who he is then you mustn't know me at all but he's my twin brother who also happens to have a blog where he shares food, lifestyle and music.
We've been wanting to do a collab for a long time but couldn't figure out what to share on both of our blogs that are still true to the topics that we share but the other is interested in too.

The Blogging Guide

This post has definitely been a long time coming and I always told myself I'd do it one day and I guess today is that day. I'm going to share my blogging tips with ye that are perfect if you're someone starting off or have been doing it for years and want to hear some of my nuggets of wisdom. I am by no means saying I'm writing this because I'm so great and successful because this certainly isn't a guide to succeed or gain followers. This is just some knowledge I have after spending more than four years in this industry. I've split all my thoughts and tips into three sections so let's get into it.

A Three In One, The Fashion Edition

It's all well and good buying new clothes but it can be hard sometimes to think of different ways to style a certain piece and get good wear out of it without wearing the same outfit constantly. Today I'm going to share three different outfits wearing the same graphic tee that will hopefully give you ideas on how to re-wear your favourite clothes in different ways.

Summer Lovin with PrettyLittleThing

Hey guys! So this is an exciting blogpost for me to write, it's a collab with PrettyLittleThing. The Red Leather Skirt

It's all well and good buying a piece of clothing for a specific event or night out when you have nothing to wear but realistically, does it get much wear after that event? Today I'm going to chat to you about styling a statement piece for an everyday basis, like this red leather skirt.

Life.

Sometimes life gets in the way of things, it can change your plans in all different ways with different things you're not in control of. I've had a lot of life stuff going on recently and social media hasn't been very high on my priority list so if you're wondering why the Snapchats or Instagrams haven't been up to scratch, that's why. Today I want to share some tips with ye that I've found helpful lately when life just isn't going as planned and you need to take a breather and look after yourself. I'm also sharing an outfit with ye featuring some pants that I am loving at the moment.

So It's Been Four Years

So it's been four years since this all began. I think ye all know that I'm a real cringey person and I love looking back and reminiscing so of course I had to chat about my fourth blog birthday today. I started The Red Brunette on the 21st of February 2014 and I never thought I would still be doing it and get to where I am four years later.

Outfits of the Week

If you follow me on Snapchat you're definitely not a stranger to my everyday outfit photos and apparently some of ye are great fans of seeing what I wear so I decided to turn it into a blogpost. This week I took a break from showing ye my outfits on Snapchat and saved them for today instead. As you can probably see I wear quite a mix of things to college, some days are dressier than others and some are jumper and jeans sort of days. So I hope ye enjoy seeing what I wore this week.

I definitely plan my outfits for what I'm doing that day whether I have a long day in college or am meeting someone and want to look nice, so some days I'm literally wearing a hoodie and jeans and others I'll be in a dress it's very varied. It goes without saying that I wear a coat over all of these because it's Ireland and its been fecking freezing this week! Another thing to note is the fact that I legit live in two pairs of shoes, my Vans and my flat ankle boots. I do a lot of walking to and from and even around college so comfortable shoes are key. I also wear the same jewellery every day which consists of a vintage Gucci watch and an Alex & Ani bangle.

Monday
Monday is usually the day I want to be the most comfortable because nobody likes to start the week with a 9am, but this week I was doing an interview on Monday so I wanted to look a bit more put together. I started off with this black skirt that I love because it has a bit more detail than a plain black skirt with the wrapped effect. It was so cold so I added a big warm jumper on the top and my usual black ankle boots and a pair of tights. It's a simple monochromatic look that isn't too plain with the cable knit in the jumper and the tied skirt.

Back Into The Swing Of Things

Being in college means longer holidays which means it's much harder to get back into the swing of things when you finally return back to work. It's always so weird to switch the onesie and selection box to a lab coat and hours spent in the library but unfortunately it has to be done. I'm going to show ye an outfit I wore to college this week as well as chat a bit about getting back on the bandwagon.

The Tied Skirt

Now that Christmas is almost upon us it's time for the Christmas parties and gatherings and of course, what to wear to them. I'm going to show ye an outfit that is quite versatile for any of your Christmas party events.

Although I love dressing up I've never been a fan of sequins or lots of glitter so the stereotypical Christmas party attire can be quite glitzy and too much for me, so I kept this outfit quite understated and neutral but still dressy enough for different occasions.

Balance

I'm writing this on a Monday, I came home from college and attempted to do some lab work but couldn't get my head around it so resorted to watching two episodes of Private Practice, and that's ok because college is all about balance.

Freshers Fashion

Hey guys! Today's post is going to be some fashion advice for college because when you're wearing your own clothes every day it can be kind of hard ending up not wearing the same thing every day. I'm also going to share a typical outfit combination for college nights which is very handy to have in the wardrobe and before we get into it if you haven't seen last week's blogpost that was about general college advice you can read it here.

Swinging Sixties

Hey guys! I hope ye're well. Today I'm going to share an outfit with ye that has some of my favourite pieces included in it that I have been wearing all the time over the summer. It has quite a 60's vibe with the a line skirt, bright coloured top and the 'Od Skool' Vans have quite a retro feel.

Festival Fashion

When this post goes up I'll hopefully be in a field in the middle of nowhere, so that definitely explains why I won't be on social media this weekend. I'll be at Indiependence for the weekend and on Tuesday I shared the makeup looks I'll be doing over the weekend that you can read here. Today I'm going to share what I'll be wearing over the weekend so I don't have to worry about showing ye on Snapchat or getting blog photos while I'm there or anything like that. There will be of course photos on my Instagram when I'm back and I might do a catch up sort of thing on my Snapchat.

Hang In There

Hey guys! Today's post is going to be an outfit one as well as a little chat about mental health, summertime sadness if you will.
I think during the summer a lot of people will have a dip in their mental health, even if you don't notice it. You're out of routine, don't have something regularly to do and don't see your friends. You're either bored out of your brain during the summer or working all day everyday. It's all completely normal. Friends are going on holidays to exotic destinations at different stages and you're there stuck at home, working and feel like you have no friends and want September to come quicker. Hang in there because you will get through the summer blues.
